Quarantine-o-ween

Your Best At-Home Halloween

10.20.2020

Our calendars this year did not look as intended. With more than a few in-person celebrations and milestones deferred indefinitely or cancelled all together, it hasn’t been easy for anyone. And well, we promise not to let the same thing happen to Halloween...

As we round into mid-October, a month typically full up with feel-good fun, we’re finding new ways for the spookiest of celebrations to go on for the whole family. Read through for fun ways to celebrate this year’s quarantine-o-ween at home.

  • For a scary movie marathon, Netflix and Chills has everything you need for a delightfully eerie night in. Pan’s Labyrinth, Poltergeist, and Silence of the Lambs, are at the top of our list -  plus the Netflix original Bird Box, if you managed to miss it the first time around.
  • Or if it's the IRL spooky you want, grab tickets while you still can to Stranger Things: The Drive Into Experience taking place here at ROW. Driving into the “Hawkins” brings you into an immersive environment inspired by the eerie Netflix show, featuring a mix of custom installations and actual props and set pieces from the production. Reserve here.
  • For crafty, and family-friendly fun, take a cue from Makers Mess. Try any of their Seasonal DIY Activity Kits including this cute Halloween tote-making set for the kiddos. Afterwards, they’ll have the perfect candy bag for trick or treating around the house! Adults can take the creepy atmospherics to the next level too, with a Makers Mess online hand-poured candle-making workshop.
  • For more options to stream and scream, check out the Huluween lineup. As a fun bonus, their homepage The Screamlands doubles as a webby-worthy interactive haunted ride.
  • What better way to complete your perfect night-in on the couch? Call in the Fried Chicken sandwiches from Pikunico and then prepare to get cozy...
  • Stave off any signs of a quarantine bummer the simple way: order a whole box of limited time Snickers Donuts from Café Dulce and chase it with one of their yummy lattes. Who said you’re too old for a sweet treat?
  • Make afternoon snack time a little more fun by packing your little one’s snacks in these happy animal zipper bags from Poketo.
  • Tuck in the tots and read them an occasion-appropriate bedtime story with this monster book from YOLK - you’ll also see why “Letter Beasties” is a revolutionary step in the world of abc books.
  • For the quintessential 2020 Halloween playlist, we looked to none other than ROW’s own office tenant Spotify. Queue up their Spooky Playlists for all sorts of scary fun.
  • Go beyond caramel apples, and channel your inner food network ‘Halloween Wars’ nerd with crafty recipes like No-Bake Strawberry Cheesecake Brain and Berry Eyeball Punch!
  • For a bit of boozy magic that requires zero mixing, celebrate your favorite spirits with Flask & Field. Wine, whiskey, or something sparkling? Their curated sets all include something sweet, including buzzy dark chocolate espresso bars from Moonstruck, for a late-night indulgence that is only slightly more sophisticated than rummaging through the fun-sized snickers...not that we don’t think that’s an excellent idea, too.
  • For more IRL activities, check out these Halloween experiences month. Some tickets are almost sold out so you just might need your invisibility costume to sneak in. Easy enough.

Or, you could always tee pee your friends house and blame it on zombies.  Just kidding, don’t do that :)
