A Day at ROW

How Natalie Kuhn of The Class Spends Her Day

09.01.2021

Natalie Kuhn is the VP of Programming and a founding teacher of The Class, a mat-based, music driven workout experience meant to support your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. As The Class comes back to ROW for their September Series, we asked her to share how she’d spend a day at the district. Follow along as Natalie takes us through her day:

People always ask me twice, “wait, you’re from LA - as in from from?” Yes, indeed. I’m “from from” LA, born and raised. When I was growing up, Downtown LA always had a creative spirit but didn't quite have the scaffolding or structure for its artists to present their ideas and innovations. There have been many attempts at creating a home or a roof for its artists, but none quite like ROW DTLA.

I remember coming to ROW when it was being built, I taught one of my first Classes of The Class inside one of its stores. Even then, it seemed to have an eye trained on a new kind of "shopping," a place that would celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit and that would support BIPOC-owned businesses, female-founded businesses, and small businesses along with bigger brands. Now, after all these years, I’m excited The Class and ROW DTLA are reunited again and to get another chance to explore around for the day.

Post-Class, my first stop is Groceries Apparel. Not only are their clothes super soft and comfy, but they are also made locally using non-toxic and recycled materials by a team dedicated to fair wages and ethical practices. I'm partial to the Flare Tank.

Next stop: coffee. I stopped over at Go Get Em Tiger where you go for their brew and stay for the waffles. I’m devoted to their Espresso Blend.

With coffee in tow, I indulge in the sensory experience that is Scent Bar. I love that they have a great assortment of scents intentionally categorized by scent types (rather than by gender). I love the Nue Co Mag Spray- and use it before bed or after a strong workout.

I wouldn't leave without a visit to Still LIfe Ceramics- this women-owned business showcases local ceramicists and is dedicated to helping you “touch the earth” through their pottery. Their Cortado Cup caught my eye.

Lastly, I make a final pitstop at Flask & Field; I trust Miraim Yoo’s taste in wine, spirits, and sundries to a T. Meinklang Orange Wine is my go to for cooking at home & picnicing in the park.

Join Natalie and The Class every Saturday in September from 10am - 11am PT on the B1 Rooftop.
