The Hypebae Professional

Meet: Lynzie Riebling

4.3.2019

From meetings with Diddy, to networking events to moderating panels, REVOLT Media VP Lynzie Riebling is a woman who makes things happen. The South Florida native is a professional powerhouse and the driving force behind facts and figures at Revolt Insights, the intelligence arm at REVOLT TV, founded by Sean “Diddy” Combs. We caught up with Lynzie over lunch at Rappahannock Oyster Bar and got the low-down on how she mixes her “Hypebae” style into everyday life.

How would you describe your personal style?

LR: Androgynous. I love to mix menswear and womenswear; I like stuff that’s very gender-neutral… I steal stuff out of my boyfriend’s wardrobe all the time. But if you were to ask someone else, like one of my best friends, they’d definitely say “sporty.” Even growing up all my friends used to call me “Sporty Spice.” I think it just totally depends on my mood and what’s on the agenda that day. I like to play all across the spectrum from hyper-feminine to “tomboy-ish”.

One morning I’ll want to channel Billie Eilish and the next I might want to be Kourtney Kardashian.

DAILY OFFICE VIBES: “MY FOREVER MOTTO AT WORK IS ‘ACTIVEWEAR FOR AN ACTIVE MIND.’”

Does your work style differ from your personal style?

LR: It honestly doesn’t because I feel like there’s no such thing as “work mode” and “life mode.” It’s just all one big thing meshed together and ultimately, we’re the same people whether we’re going out at night to meet friends or going to the office in the morning, which doesn’t require an outfit change in my opinion.

UPSCALE EVENTS: “ALTHOUGH I DON’T WEAR HEELS OFTEN, I LOVE AN EXCUSE TO AND FOR INDUSTRY AWARD CEREMONIES OR FANCIER NIGHTS OUT ON THE TOWN. I LIKE TO LEAN INTO THE CLEAN LINES AND TAILORING OF MENSWEAR BUT COMFORT IS ALWAYS AT THE FOREFRONT.”

Let’s talk fashion. Are there any trends you particularly identify with?

LR: I feel like athleisure became a thing a few years ago and I specifically remember people asking me “What are you going to do when athleisure goes out of style?” – which was morally offensive to me hah. It’s trendy all of the sudden, but it’s always been my thing and I’m going to keep rocking sneakers until the end of it.

PANELS & PUBLIC SPEAKING EVENTS: “I LIKE OUTFITS THAT STAND OUT AND ARE MORE FORM FITTING FOR THE CAMERA AND I TEND TO LEAN INTO MY MORE FEMININE SIDE, BUT ALWAYS WITH A SNEAKER.”

What are your thoughts about dress codes?

LR: I don’t know that I could take a job in 2019 or any year forward where there was a dress code. I actually interviewed with a company that said you couldn’t dye your hair any color other than your natural tone and that was a deal breaker for me. It’s so silly. You should be able to express yourself and I feel like our generation is knocking down those walls and barriers where we want to bring our whole self to work.

NETWORKING/CLIENT MEETINGS: “AN ELEVATED TAKE ON MY OFFICE LOOK, JUST A BIT MORE REFINED.”

Tell us how you shop. Is there a method to the madness?

LR: Well it’s safe to say I’d never wear an entire look from a single designer. That’s not to say that designers don’t kill it, it’s just, it’s too easy. You can always tell someone who walked into a store and bought a whole look off a mannequin from someone who put thought into it and paired different pieces. It’s the difference between moving into a turn-key home and buying something and making it exactly what you want.
