Michelin Star – Hayato

Hayato

In addition to the already incredible variety of award-winning restaurants that call ROW DTLA home, now the Collective can count a Michelin star restaurant among them.

It’s the most special experience I’ve had in a restaurant. — Bill Addions, LA Times Food Critic

The Michelin Guide has returned to LA for the first time in nearly a decade, and according to critics, ROW DTLA visionary chef Brandon Go’s Hayato is maybe its most worthy recipient to date. The Michelin Guide hands out stars sparingly, anywhere from one to three, and winning one means the food is exceptional enough to indulge in a special trip.

The most delicious bento I’ve ever had...almost overwhelming to behold. — Elyse Inamine, Bon Appétit

Go serves his otherworldly interpretations of traditional Japanese cuisine known as “Washoku,” to only seven seats a night. His extended dinner tasting menu of wild seafood has been called a “truly singular experience” on KCRW’s Good Food podcast, with LA Times Restaurant Critic Bill Addison describing the final fish and rice course as “the spiritual finale of the meal.”

Reservations are booked out nearly three months in advance, but you don’t have to wait that long for a taste of Hayato. Go also pre-sells sixteen original bento boxes every day for foodie lunch-goers, which Bon Appétit’s Elyse Inamine describes as “overwhelming to behold.”
