How to Holiday with The Boy Who Cried Flowers

Discover the Beauty of Nature, Artfully Arranged

12.1.2020

We’re all about creating moments of joy wherever we can this season, and in that spirit, we turned to The Boy Who Cried Flowers for fresh holiday inspiration.

Together, the founders of the floral design outfit, Anthony Maslo and Follin Jeffery, have a way of bringing their exuberant touch to translate florals into meaningful works of art. And since we can’t think of a better time for a touch of surprise and delight in our natural environments, we caught up with the creative duo to get a few easy tips that you can use for arranging your own uplifting bouquets.

Whether you’re brightening up your own table or showing a loved one you care, take a few tips from the masters of color and movement themselves; as Anthony says, “flowers during the holidays give the feeling of joy, togetherness, and this year I believe it's so important to have that.”

Be sure to visit The Boy Who Cried Flowers pop-up at ROW this month for beautifully personalized bouquets for loved ones, thoughtfully curated products from their favorite LA creatives, and of course, plenty of photo-ready floral installations. Then, scroll down for products from around the Collective to complete the look - whether it be a vase, vessel, or thoughtful object to tie the perfect gift together.

Some of my favorite tips and tricks for creating beautiful bouquets are:

  • Find flowers with different qualities, meaning find some that are rather straight and linear, and others with movement or that have very large round blooms, find a variety of shapes, sizes, and movement.
  • Vases are very important as well, have a collection of vases that you love and enjoy, especially bud vases.  These are great for tables that will have a lot of food on them, you can place a few bud vases with a bloom or three in them to add florals to the table without sacrificing room for food.
  • I adore using poinsettia foliage in holiday bouquets and arrangements,  they come in so many color variances, shapes, and sizes that they add a sense of nostalgia for the holidays  while enhancing the bouquet/arrangements’ beauty.
  • Flowers during the holidays give the feeling of joy, togetherness, and this year I believe it's so important to have that whether you're able to see your family or not, an arrangement from them or for them is a way to show them you're there in spirit, and that they are with you.
  • About the BWCF Popup: We've also curated some of our favorite creatives to be sold within the space that you'll be able to shop for! Both of us are big fans of art, museums, galleries, and we wanted to create a space for flowers that feels as if you are attending a gallery opening. Each bloom itself will hold space in a beautiful and minimalistic environment.

Above all, “we want you to feel uplifted, loved, and in awe with the beauty of nature artfully arranged,” says Anthony. While you're at ROW, discover these products from the Collective that would go great with your gift of blooms:
