Gifts for The Family

Gifts for The Family

Fashion mama, lifestyle influencer and kids clothing designer Coury Combs (@fancytreehouse ) shares the perfect gifts for the family.

While I appreciate the ease of online shopping as much as the next girl, there is something so special about venturing out in the cold December air to peruse the shops in person! Working mostly online leaves me with a desire for daily human interaction so honestly it’s nice to have a chat with the shopkeepers as well. The shops are all festive and there is an unmistakable feeling of general good cheer!  I can’t wait to share with you some of my favorite gifts available at Row this year! It really is a one stop shop for all your holiday gifting (including gifting yourself..hehe).

Before jumping into my shopping, I charged up with a cortado at Cafe Dulce. You pretty much HAVE to take a photo in front of the beautiful mural.

I started at Poketo. You’ll find gifts here for everyone. My favorite go-to gift is Compartes Chocolate bars. I don’t know a soul who wouldn’t appreciate a fancy chocolate bar complete with beautiful art as the wrapper! These are perfect as a host/hostess gift, for co-workers you like, or for your kids’ teachers! Poketo also carries modern office supplies, inexpensive unique jewelry, and my favorite candle ever. I would personally be happy with anything in this store and I’m regretting not snagging the iridescent tote bag!

I ran over to Yolk next and it’s a must for the cool kiddos in your life. I grabbed my son and daughter matching aprons (because they’ve been so into playing restaurant these days) and a box of adorable markers.

My husband is hard to shop for but once I strolled into Banks Journal, I knew he would love anything in there. Laid back California beachy vibes and fantastically made basics. I used to work at Rudy’s in Silverlake so I have a soft spot for the smell of those products!

My next stops were Myrtle and DRA.  I was already a huge fan of both shops and they have fabulous gift offerings right now! Myrtle has some of my favorite designers and any fashion fan would happily wear any of them. DRA has the best lavender fuzzy coat right now that you need and some sweet floaty dresses for holiday parties. There is sweet delicate jewelry in both shops. I feel like any girl would appreciate a dainty ring or necklace.

Before I ran out of steam I stopped into Hawkins New York and fell in love. It’s full of really fresh, modern home goods. I picked up this pink marble board and sweet little vase for my mom! They also carry one of my favorite ceramic lines, Lux Eros. I love that it’s all made in Los Angeles!

Shopping is exhausting in the best possible way (remember when people used to say shopping was their cardio?) so I took a seat on some cute chairs and wistfully examined my purchases (I MIGHT have opened one of the chocolate bars..oops). Giving gifts is truly the best feeling!
