Food Meets Fashion At ROW DTLA

Eat Drink LA

03.21.2019

My Angeleno dream is to live inside the carefully curated food meets fashion world that is Row DTLA! Now crossing my fingers that no one spots the crusted orange toddler food residue on my H&M Trench coat…

What Is ROW DTLA?

ROW DTLA was once a 32-acre historic produce marketplace originally created in the 1920’s in the Downtown Arts District. Today it still a marketplace but instead of fruit you have an array of delicious retail stores, creative office spaces, fantastic restaurants, and incredible lifestyle offerings.

Explore The Manufactory First

The Manufactory is a collaboration between the San Francisco Chefs Elisabeth Prueitt and Chad Robertson (Tartine Bakery) and Chris Bianco of Phoenix’s Pizzeria Bianco.

What you will find is nearly 40,000 square feet of dining which includes a bakery, market, day and night-time restaurants (Tartine Bianco/Alameda Supper Club), an ice-cream/coffee walk-up window, a coffee roastery (Manufactory Coffee/Califia Farms collab) and overall a place you can be from 7:30 AM-10 PM every day!

Must have menu items include the Morning Bun or something freshly baked from the Tartine Bakery.

Now What Are You Wearing!

Row DTLA has over a dozen retail shops including Galerie.LA., dRA Clothing, 13 Bonaparte, Myrtle, and OMAMImini for the kiddos.

More than just a regular shopping experience, all of these spaces are designed to help you create an entire lifestyle picture that begins with sustainable clothing, incredible scents, and items have a backstory to them.

It’s hard to go back to Target when you’re burning a candle from Myrtle whose scent was inspired by breezy North East LA nights, and hand poured by an organization that employs adults with mental disabilities (Light 4 Life).

Time For Lunch!

Pikunico from Chef Kuniko Yagi (Hinoki & the Bird and Top Chef) offers housemade karaage served in a basket, salad, or bowl along with delicious sides and drinks.

A former banker and fine dining chef; Chef Kuniko wanted to expand her reach to everyone and not just the 1%, which inspired her to create a Japan meets America fried chicken restaurant with a focus on local ingredients and free range chicken.

Explore The Arts

Since it is the arts district after all, be sure to check out the House of Lucie for emerging photographers or treat yourself to something a little more immersive.

Currently on view for FREE is the VT Pro Design studio’s captivating experience, Telestron. Originally created for the Day for Night Music Festival in Houston, this is the first time the robotics show has been shown in its hometown of Los Angeles. Lasting only 8 minutes, it will imprint the rest of your day and rethink the way you think about robots…

Is It Happy Hour Yet?

Rappahannock Oyster Bar (try saying that 3 times fast…)helmed by Chef Nick Erven is open starting at 11 AM for lunch, dinner, and brunch; however it’s the DAILY HAPPY HOUR from 4-6 PM that feels like the precious pearl.

Slurp up some fresh shellfish flown in daily from Virginia, or sip on a cocktail crafted by Author and Mixologist Hope Ewing.

If you find yourself at Row DTLA during brunch, the Lobster Roll is probably one of the best in Los Angeles with massive chunks of lobster exploding off the sides of a perfectly toasted buttery roll.

Now It's Time To Round Out Your Look

I told you this is lifestyle thing right? So be sure to check out one of the Lifestyle & Design retailers like KINTO, Poketo, or HIGHTIDE Store DTLA if you want your day to day items to look as good as you feel.

Speaking of looking good, you can make yourself over on the outside at Nova Arts Salon or Coreology before securing your inside at Bartholomew Method and Scent Bar DTLA.

What's In Store

Joining the dining line-up later this year at Row DTLA, look for M.Georgina from Michelin-Starred chef Melissa Perello (Frances), and a coffee shop to rival The Manufactory with go get em tiger.

Best Part About ROW DTLA

FREE PARKING FOR TWO HOURS!!! I’ve lived in LA for 13 years and this has become the most important thing to me when I decide where to go anymore.
