Call For Artists

You are what makes us ROW. Together, we’re a Collective of unique voices and pioneers, empowered by an incredible community who bring energy and creativity to everything we do!

That’s why we’re excited to announce ROW DTLA is looking for artists (individuals or teams) who’d like to paint various exteriors throughout our district. Join the likes of Retna, Wade and Leta, Carly Kuhn (The Cartorialist) and Lakwena and bring your brand of inspired beauty to ROW DTLA. Let us be your vessel to support art and design in Los Angeles!

There’s anywhere from 200 - 1,000 sq ft across multiple locations of shotcrete, stucco, plaster, metal and concrete that needs your personal touch. All you need to do is apply below.

To Submit: Email info@rowdtla.com with the subject line: “ROW DTLA Call for Artists RFP.” Include: 

• Letter of Interest (Cover Letter)

• Your Resume 

• At least 5 examples of your work 

• Links to relevant work on your socials or website

Artists must be LA-based, work in paint media, and demonstrate prior work in a public realm. Submissions will be reviewed by ROW DTLA on a continuous basis throughout the City of Los Angeles’ Safer at Home order, and selected artists will commence work only after the order has been lifted. 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

• Payment: Payment is $20 per sq ft. for selected artists.

• Terms of payment are as follows: 25% - upon award of contract to be applied to development of concept; 25% - upon completion of approved concept; 30% - at start of work; 20% - at completion of work.

• ROW DTLA will prime and prep surface per artists’ instructions prior to commencement of work.

• Selected artists to provide all paint and supplies required to complete the mural.

• Selected artists will retain the ownership of site specific concept submissions until final concept is approved. Upon approval of final site specific concept, ownership of the design and the artwork produced will become the property of ROW DTLA.

• Financial compensation and insurance for completion of the mural will be made in accordance with the agreed upon contract between the artist(s) and ROW DTLA. 

• A suitable Artist Maintenance Plan must be submitted detailing care for finished work.
