Green slice at Pane Bianco in Downtown LA

On a pre-holiday gift run to Hightide, I found myself at Row DTLA in the middle of the day, a little hungry but not looking for anything too big. I think I did three laps of the industrial outdoor shopping center before finally heading to Pane Bianco, a sandwich and slice shop from pizzaiolo Chris Bianco. It’s been some time since I’d eaten at Pizzeria Bianco or Pane Bianco, so I went for my usual favorite, the green slice. Los Angeles has a lot of really great pizza, but I still think this is one of the best slices around town. Each slice is generously sized, taking up the better portion of a white disposable plate, and reheated to a crisp before serving. The green slice reminds me a bit of a spinach artichoke dip, with an earthy green sauce and bubbly cheese on top. One slice is good enough for a light lunch, but adding in a salad doesn’t hurt. 757 Alameda Street, 180, Los Angeles, CA 90021. — Rebecca Roland, Southern California/Southwest editor
