Casey Goode—aka Officially Quigley—gives us a tour of her favorite spots to eat, drink, shop, and more. It’s no big secret that Los Angeles is a driving city. It can take more than an hour for , the stylish content creator and Instagram star, to get to the city’s downtown neighborhood, but she doesn’t let that get her down. Instead she uses the opportunity to turn the trip into an all-day adventure in her former neighborhood. “I’ve found the little pockets that are special,” she says. “So whenever I’m there I make sure to visit them.” And with good reason. In recent years the area has seen explosive growth: Restaurants that reflect L.A.’s incredible food scene, boutiques that cater to the stylish, breezy residents, and unexpected activities all beckon intrepid travelers or locals. We asked Goode to lift the veil and give us a glimpse at how she spends a day in that neighborhood, fueling up both physically and creatively, and taking in all the inspiring pursuits that the city has to offer. Stay centered and let the creative juices flow. STILL LIFE CERAMICS, SOUTH ALAMEDA STREET #198 “As we get older I think we forget to incorporate tactile things in our routine,” Goode says. She's loved creating ceramics since middle school, and her grandmother’s maiden name, as fate would have it, is Potter. “I travel a lot so it’s hard for me to create a routine, but I’m very intentional about creating time where I can be in my body.” So naturally she swings by , a ceramics studio that offers workshops and classes for those ready to make their own clay goods. Goode noted that it’s an activity with a bit of a learning curve, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t nail it on the first try. Instead, go with the flow and plan to spend some time really diving in. However, keep in mind that once you get the hang of it, it’s like “riding a bike.” “We spend so much time on our phones, attached to technology, to get your hands into clay, into the earth, it brings you into your body, into the present.”
