Friday Gallery Opening

Friday Gallery is honored to present their inaugural show "On Emptiness," a solo exhibition from Pakistani artist Muzzumil Ruheel. Join us Friday the 13th for an opening with music from Naya Beat, a mango bar with the “king of the fruit” from Pakistan, mocktails and other delights. Ruheel’s latest work is a meditation on the beauty of emptiness, reinterpreting calligraphy into experimental forms that speak beyond words. In his hands, the shapes of language are transformed from a method of communication into a medium of raw primal emotion — to say what cannot be said, beyond the place where words fail. Blurring the repetition of form into a river of formlessness, he creates a liquid conversation between creation and destruction, presence and impermanence. From emptiness, everything emerges. As a new gallery dedicated to creative voices from the Global South, the first season pairs Ruheel's work with curated objects, apparel, and editions from designers across Pakistan, Dubai, India, Tunisia and beyond. The "Emptiness" season features brands that each remove a key element in the act of creation - from electricity, to color and dyes, to the speed of time itself. Friday’s upcoming programming will continue to examine emptiness through diverse creative lenses - from a Sufi scholar exploring being and nonbeing, to a musician unpacking the reverberation of empty halls, to a technologist meditating on the emotional ergonomics of empty cyberspace.
